Situated directly at the banks of the Ilmenau in Lüneburg's historical water quarter the 'Altes Kaufhaus' (old department store) with its Baroque gable is being lovingly revived under the consideration of old plans and photos. It stems from the 16th-century. To the still conserved romantic Baroque facade is a modern hotel complex connected. It has pretty designed dormer windows and the distinctive red shutters.
The location is unique, the hotel seems to hover over the Ilmenau because it has been built directly on the old harbour walls.
