Observatory Aachen

image author: Sternwarte Aachen

The original device is a big ZEISS-Refractor with objective AS 200/3000, mechanical tracing and governor. Cupola and seminar room are being intensively used within the scope of the adult education course work. There are courses, seminars, lectures and offers for schools as well as guided tours for the public.

Public sky watching have an old tradition at the Aachen Observatory. When the weather allows, one has the possibility of an individual study under guidance at the telescope in the cupola.

Guided tours take place every week, all year round (apart form the months  June and July, during school holidays, public holidays). A lecture of introduction into the astronomy with demonstrations of the telescope is being given should the sky be overcast.
