Klever Gate
The Klever Gate is an impressive three-storied town gate of the year 1393. The first gate opening on the town averted side is being flanked by 2 round towers, the so-called owl towers. A bridge like access road to the main gate leads across the previous moat. The medieval substance is only maintained in the lower area. The upper levels had to be restored after the World War II. During the years the square building was used a.o. as a museum and a prison. Today 3 well equipped holiday apartments are available at the Klever gate.
Antonius house
The Antonius house is a late Gothic chapel with facade from the 17th century. Originally the house was built as a chapel for the lepers outside of the city walls. The Antonius house belongs to the holy houses, which are plentiful in the city area of Xanten. They reflect the the signs of the Lower Rhine religiousness and were built in order to protect the land and the harvest. Most of these houses are maintained by the neighbourhood or brotherhood (e.g. Marksmen guild)
The wall tower Westwall
The round brick tower was built as a town fortification around the year 1500. In the 17th century the tower was redesigned as a garden house.
