Always in the last whole week in June sailors from many different nations get ready with their boats for the regatta start at the inner and outer fjord.
Even though the Kieler Week with its three and a half million visitors is also North Europe's largest summer festival – sailing has always been the heart of the whole event.
The start of the Kieler Week can be read from the calendar years ahead: It takes place always in the last week of June.
The opening of the world's largest sailing event and the North Europe's largest summer festival always starts at the second last June-Saturday, the last Sunday is the final day, which ends with fireworks.
