The joined community Flotwedel consists of the communities Wienhausen, Langlingen, Eicklingen and Bröckel.
Founded around 1230, the Cistercian monastery has an outstanding framework and Low Saxon brick Gothic. It reveals Gothic art treasures, - cloisters, valuable paintings and cultural devices.
The nuns' choir houses a carved altar from the year 1519 and an elaborate complete painting from 1335. The Gothic tapestry collection from the 14th and 15th-centuy, is a treasure and is being presented from the Friday after Whitsun, during a special festival week.
Imbedded into villages with framework constructed houses, romantic water courses, wonderful forest areas, estates and farms, Flowedel is ideal for diverse trips.
Especially worth seeing are - apart from the monastery - the old watermill, St. Johannis-church and the village museum in Langlingen ( rural culture and work), Maria-Magdalenen-chapel, barbican estate Oppershausen and the Amtshof Eicklingen.
