The single-nave late-gothic brick building, the Jacob Chapel was built around 1320. The church belonged to the St. Jacob hospital, which was located outside of town. The edifice became known as the 'Crazy Chapel'. due to the widening of the Jacobstraße, which ran past the chapel, the building was set back by 11m to the west in 1892.
