Holstenstrasse

image author: sepi.city-map.de

Two corner towers located at the beginning of the Holstenstraße coming from Großflecken. They were built by architect Magnus Schlichting in 1891, who was the brother of the former mayor Eduard Schlichting.

After the 1st World War, the bulbous spires were a stylistic nightmare. That's why the southern building was rebuilt by architect Fritz Hain sen. for the textile-house owner Otto Barg in 1936: the spire dome was classically streamlined, the stuck ornament removed and the exterior was furnished with patent plaster.
