The village Hohnstedt with a population of 728 (status 01. 2007) is situated in the pretty Leine valley between Northeim and Einbeck and is part of Northeim since the incorporation in 1974.
The Martini-church in Hohnstedt counts as one of the oldest churches in the Leine valley. Unfortunately the exact building year can't be ascertained. As it is a Martini-church one can assume that the church was built in the years 1024-1125
The small village Hohnstedt has an active and extensive club life. Among others also the 'music friends', which consists of people from the villages Hohnstedt, Northeim and Edesheim. The 'music friends' made the community Hohnstedt well-known far beyond the borders.
