The tour starts at the newly designed Kiel Main Train Station: Here is the Railway-Bridge situated. From there the Fjord-ships sail every hour to Laboe. A few metres away is the Norway Quay. With a bit of luck you will be able to see the big cruise ship of the Color-Line, the only ferry connection between Germany and Norway!

Opposite, on the other side of the Fjord, a new district is emerging at the waterfront: The "Kai-City-Kiel". 100 apartments, office buildings and a promenade that offers great recreation are being built here.

Kiel's first shopping address is the shopping centre Sophienhof with the new passage Kleiner Herzog. Situated opposite the main train station the visitor will find everything he desires: boutiques, knick-knack, music, restaurants and cafés. The Sophienhof is especially proud of "Sophies Markthalle", which is based on the Munich Viktualienmarkt and offers daily the freshest ware.

As soon as you have left the shopping centre through the Holstentörn, you will reach the pedestrian zone "Holstenstrasse".
