Between Uelzen and Munster in the long stretched Gerdau valley, near the village Eimke, is the Ellendorfer Juniper-heathland situated. One of the last intact heathland areas in our region.
During the heathland blossom, in the months mid-August to mid-September, the whole heather area is covered with a violet carpet and attracts many guests and holiday makers into the region. One can undertake long walks and bicycle tours. One can also watch the shepherd with his German Gray Heath herds who walks the heathland during the blossom time.
Numerous events take place in our region, which you can visit. Day-trips are possible as well as bus-tours or take part in one of the many guest-tours around Uelzen and surrounding area. There are for instance village tours in Ebstorf with monastery sightseeing and the famous world-map, Bad Bevensen, Bad Bodenteich and Uelzen.

Always in August in the Gerdau valley, the farmers' market is being celebrated, with the election of the juniper-queen who represents the Gerau valley in the tourist information office.
At this market, agricultural products are on offer as well as gift articles, flowers and much more. And your physical well being is being taken care off too.
In Suhlendorf one can find the famous mill-museum with the traders market and mill festival. In Bad Bodenteich the lake-park-festival or the oven-festival in Soltendiek with freshly baked butter-cake and bread. Also in Bad Bevensen guided tours through Bad Bevensen and much more.
Still, there are much more interesting possibilities to discover in our region. One can do a steamboat trip on the Elbe side canal (with sluicing) or take a look at the ship hoisting in Esterholz and Scharnebeck.
