The independent village was incorporated into the community Kalefeld in 1974 and in 1977 followed the allocation for Echte from the rural district Osterode to the rural district Northeim.
Apart from several clubs the voluntary fire brigade is one of the largest associations in Echte.

The iron ore mine in Echte was once Germany's most modern iron ore mine. Iron ore was mined here until the mine was closed in the year 1962.
The community Echte is surrounded by large wooded area. Hikers and ramblers find outstanding possibilities. From Echte you are able to reach the Oberharz, the Solling or the Weserbergland in a short time. Further information under:http://www.kalefeld.de/ortschaften/echte.asp
