The S-Bahn-Offer
New traffic system
With the start of the S-Bahn Rhein-Neckar on the 14th of December 2003 is Mosbach now also connected to the new traffic system. The lines S1 and S2 stop after a user friendly timetable at the three train stations Mosbach-Neckarelz, Mosbach-West and Mosbach.
New trains
New are also the now employed public transports. The modern multiple unit ET 425.2 offers with a length of 67,5m and a weight of 108t 182 seats in the 2nd class and 24 in the 1st class and in addition standing space for 228 persons. Every train has a toilet. Wide doors, stepless entrance and air-condition are important comfort attributes of the new multiple unit. Two units will operate connected during rush hour at the Neckar Valley. The top speed is 140 km/h with a drive capacity of 2.359 Kilowatt. The DB has altogether order 40 of these multiple units at Bombardier and Siemens.
New lines
Mosbach as well as the whole region profits from the new timetable offer. The S-1 will have in Osterburken every two hours a connection to and from Würzburg - and with that a link to the long-distance traffic direction north. There is of course also a connection in Mannheim to the long-distance net.
Neckarelz has short transfers from and to Stuttgart. As hitherto the fast regional express trains will travel between Heilbronn and Mannheim very two hours with the stops only in Neckarsulm, Bad Friedrichshall-Jagstfeld, Neckarelz, Eberbach and Heidelberg.
Double-decker trains to Stuttgart will still run so that the county capital can be reached hourly from Neckarelz.
