The community Westerrade is situated in the eastern part of the borough Segeberg-Land. The community has ca. 500 citizens and a total size of 563 ha.

Westerrade celebrated its 750th birthday in 1999.
Early on people settled here and created a new home by clearing a forest area at the nearby Warder Lake.
