Cigar maker monument in Achim

In 1994 there was an artists' competition. 24 artists took part to create a sculpture in remembrance of the cigar making craft. The Bremer sculptor Christian Huber was chosen. On the 6th of October 1996 the sculpture 'cigar maker' was revealed.

The cigar maker monument in front of the town hall as well as the exhibition as exhibition 'cigar maker's parlour' in the town hall remember the time when Achim was the stronghold of cigar production. In the year 2003 the cigar maker's parlour was furnished by the local association and shows among other things items of the last Achimer cigar maker.

Cigar production was a qualified trade, which was performed in factories or in homes by the whole family)
