Brown coal open-cast mine and new landscapes

These theme tours are unique: gigantic brown coal mining fields, newly emerged or emerging swimming lakes, unique open-cast mine landscapes, which became or become heather and wooded areas.

You as a cyclist roll comfortable on newly build asphalted cycle paths though a landscape, which is its way 'back to nature'. In the next 10 years 5 000 square kilometres landscape will here be re-created.

The tour can be started at 18 train stations. The trip starts for example in  Senftenberg at the fringe of the open-cast mine Meuro, which has just been closed. Here as one of the projects of the international building exhibition   "Fürst-Pückler-Land" the Ilse-Lake accrued.

The old estate Geisendorf is backdrop for the "Lausitzer Opera Summer". Another highlight is the Branitzer Park with its famous pyramids in Cottbus, created by Fürst Pückler.

The German-Wendish double church in Vetschau lies along the route as well as the little idyllic Spreewald town Lübbenau.

A view onto EuroSpeedway Lausitz, Europe's most modern test and race track and a trip to a closed overburden conveyor bridge are other attractions.
