Whether the main house with the bird and water world, the Aquarium landscape or the beaver lodge - the exhibition in the Biosphaerium Elbtalaue, the information centre for the biosphere reserve, will entice you to undertake a visit to the Lower Saxon Elbe floodplain.
Experience the fascination of flying: accompany the geese migration in the floodplain, get to know the numerous guest and breeding birds along the river Elbe. Or, you look live in the nest of a stork. From April to August, you have the opportunity to watch the happening in the Bleckeder stork nest live.
Experience the winter in summer? No problem at the ice block in the winter room. You can test, which material keeps our feet warm and why birds don't get cold feet. Whenever you come, in the Biosphaerium Elbtalaue, you travel through all the seasons.
After a view from the medieval palace tower onto the river Elbe, we walk against the current to the source. Whether sandy beaches or high tide, there is always something new to discover about the Elbe.
In the aquarium landscape there is also a lot happening: Dive into the underwater world and try out how much power you need to catch a pike. The diversity of the Elbe's fish world can be watched in eight different basins. Information about the individual species of fish are offered via different monitors.
Come up again in the beaver lodge and discover the life of this sympathetic rodent from any perspectives.
Watch the beavers in their castle or from the roof terrace in the terrain while swimming or on land.
In the accessible, big enough for humans beaver cauldron, you get to know the behaviour in impressive film sequences. Discover, who called the beaver Master Bockert in his literary works and why the beaver was included in the fish species in medieval times.
After a rest in the Schlosscafé, your tour in the Elbe floodplains starts. The tourist-information will show you the most beautiful destinations right and left along the river Elbe.
