The bicycle route runs on former railway tracks through the east of the district Viersen

The cycle route is characterised by the former railway tracks in the east of the district Viersen. The first meeting with the iron horse of the past is on the Wilhelmplatz in St. Tönis, the tour's starting point. There the 'Schluff' stops on Sundays. The historical locomotive runs the former line of the Crefelder Railway cooperation between St.Tönis and Krefeld-Hüls.
The path then runs from the Wilhelmplatz first along the Euroga-Route through the village centre of St.Tönis. A short way along the Düsseldorfer Straße and then the route turns left onto the Lower Rhine route. The cyclists drive through Tönisvorst's largest apple growing area, the Huverheide. At the wayside is the House Neersdonk. The now privately owned moated manor stems from the year 1667.
Near the village centre of Vorst the Lower Rhine route reaches the 'BahnRadweg Kreis Viersen'. The theme route runs on former railway tracks through all nine towns and communities of the district Viersen.
Along the very straight Schlufftrasse the route takes the cyclist over the river Niers to Süchteln. The route runs from there on the former railway track Grefrath-Viersen in the direction Alt-Viersen, then along the BahnRadwegs Kreis Viersen to the new residential area Stadtwald-Robend. A water axis and Anatol's stone circle characterise the quarter near Viersen's railway station. Parallel to the tracks the path runs in the direction Mönchengladbach.

Cyclists turn left at the Schanzweg. The path leads over the river Niers to Neersen. There a detour to the Neersen palace is well worth it. The town of Willich restored the palace and it is the town's administration headquarter now.
The cycle tour follows the main road. The cyclist will reach another closed railway track after crossing under the motorway 52. On the railway track from Mönchengladbach to Willich a new cycle path has been constructed. Along the route via Niederheide and Wekeln a scraped locomotive reminds the railway history.
Passing by the industrial park Gewerbepark Stahlwerk Becker the cycle route of the month via the St.Töniser Straße, Votzhöfe and Holterhöfe to Krefeld-Forstwald. Cyclists follow for a short time the course of the railway track Viersen-Krefeld. The path turns left in direction St.Tönis. After 42km the tour's starting point has been reached.
