Watermill Velpe

The watermill Velpe in Westerkappeln is a former farm mill, built by the family Velpe in 1560. For around 100 years, the mill the belongs to the family Görtemöller. In the years 1980 - 1990the mill was completely restored and ad functional meal mill again inaugurated in 1990.

Even today, the mill is being powered by water. Organically produced grain is being ground, which will then used to bake wholesome bread in the stone oven on Fridays and Saturdays.

In addition, the mill is open for sightseeing for all mill interested people. A picture gallery has been set up from the Velpe painter Gustav Künnemann at the mill's upper floor. The mill's rooms are also used for cultural purposes (concerts, readings and so on).
