Wahlstedt is a town in the district Segeberg, in Schleswig Holstein and has a population of roughly 10.000.

The town is located only a few kilometres west of Bad Segeberg at the most northern edge of the Segeberger wood.

Wahlstedt's history:

Wahlstedt was mentioned very early on. In the year 1150 this document of the bishop from Oldenburg confirms for the church Segeberger the 'tithe distribution' by Lothair II, Holy Roman Emperor.
This certificate names ten villages among them a village named the 'Wahlstedte'.

After the 2nd World War Wahlstedt was allocated to the borough Segeberger-Land. But in 1954 the community was recognised as borough-free community again. In 1966 Wahlstedt received the town charter by the Schleswig-Holstein provincial government.
