The Palace Nennhausen

The Markish noble family von Briest totally rebuilt the Palace Nennhausen in the year 1732 upon the advice and with the support of King Frederick William I. The two-storey palace got in this time two side wings. In the middle of the 18th century the western wing was demolished and the eastern wing was raised by one storey. In the middle of the 19th century the house of the master builder Ferdinand von Armin was given a gothic style. Above the entrance door is the coat of arms from the family von Briest (F. C. v. B,. 1737) to be seen and in the hall of the palace is a memorial slab from the year 1550 with a flat relief of the canon Andreas von Lochow, a member of the rich noble family, which lived in Nennhausen in the 16th century. Stucco ceilings and eight elaborate decorated fireplace mantelpieces adorn the palace's rooms. The basement of the house stems from the  renaissance time.
At the west side of the palace is the ca 40ha large park, originally created by Philipp August Friedrich von Briest in the 2nd half of the 18th century. Diverse and manifold are the trees and bushes, especially noticeable are the enormous English oaks and hornbeams.
The roof of the main building was totally destroyed by fire in 1983. The extinguishing water and infiltrating rain water created further long-term damage at the wooden beam ceilings and the many stucco decorations. With gained funds renovation work at the palace started in 1992. The side wing got a new roof. The whole palace was reconstructed by its new owner Alexander von Stechow in the years from 1999 to 2002.
