A place of interest in Sprey, a district of Boxberg, is the unique Schrotholz Chapel.
The chapel constructed around 1522, was rebuilt in the year 1780 despite completestate of neglect. Its altar picture is a carved five-figure shrine, which depicts the holy Barbara, the miners' patron saint. It stems from pre-reformation time.
The listed chapel is characteristic for the architecture of the Muskauer Heide. Its beams are only hatched and connected with each other without nails.
Sprey was first recorded in the year 1590. It was then a little settlement at the "Schwarzen Schöps". Sprey is since 1974 a district of the community Boxberg/OL and is situated at the B 156. It is also possible to reach the village easily by bicycle from the direction Boxberg and direction Neustadt via the Spree cycle path.
