The Scharmbecker May Market, also called Spring Market, starts off the the season of traditional festivals in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. Apart from the City Festival OHZ and the Scharmbecker Autumn Market, the May Market id also seen as one of the biggest festivals in Osterholz-Scharmbeck.

The annual date varies. It could be, that the May Market falls sometimes on Ascension Day or on Whitsun. Thus, the May Market may start on a Thursday or Friday. All fun rides are open, there is a Ferris wheel, children's rides, Autoscooter, Music Express and lots more.

Up to 40 showmen offer ice cream, roasted almonds, fried sausage, chips, fish rolls and many more delicacies. A booth with wines from the Palatinate region is also there. Many of the showmen partake in the second or third generation.

One of the May Market's highlights is the flea market on Saturday morning. Lots of useful things are being offered from the Kirchenstraße to the market meadow. One can make small talk or really haggle over things. this flea market is the little brother of the autumn flea market.

On offer is also green eye-candy. The plant market, which turns the festival area into a sea of flowers, offers visitors a great range of summer flowers, trees and many other pretty plants.

On Sunday, US-cars, trucks and mobile homes can be marveled at on the market meadow. Every year, there is also a colourful frame programme with live music and other great presentations.

In the past organised by the city, since 2006, the May Market has been organised and conducted by the 'Arbeitsgemeinschaft Scharmbecker Maimarkt'.

The date for the May Market is available in our event calendar at the start of the new year onwards.
