The museum is situated in the upper rooms of the parish farmhouse. It is one of very few still existing parish farmhouses. It was built in the style of Lower Saxon farmhouses. Wilhelm Busch's brother-in-law, Herrmann Nöldecke, was the last countrs parish priest in Wiedensahl.

The women's traditional costumes are especially noteworthy: the Wiedensahl traditional costume is simple and in dark colours and was last worn by girls at their confirmation. While the costumes of the Schaumburg-Lippe women symbolised more the wealth in Emperor Wilhelm's times.
