The extensively renovated Gladbach Castle is situated a bit outside of Vettweiß. It consists of a large outer bailey and a residence. Next to the gate tower is the castle's entrance. In the course of the centuries the castle changed due to modifications. Thus, in the 2nd half od the 19th-century four wings and a bridge let over the moat to the castle. Remnants of a mighty round tower can still be recognised today.
Gladbach Castle was mentioned in a document in 1297. Its owner changed often through heirs or sale. In 1688 it was destroyed through a fire and only rebuilt in 1714.

In 1823 another extension was done and the side wings extended.
The Commandant Francois de Larchet de Chamont of Jülich is responsible for the building history and the rebuilding of the main house in the 1st third of the 19th-century. He used the castle as a splendour residence. Today Gladbach Castle is privately owned and is not open to the public.
