Cemetery chapel and cemetery in Lengerich
Graveyard and cemetery chapel of the institution 'Bethesda“ was given its function in May 1926, after it wasn't possible anymore to use the Protestant city graveyard. The graveyard with its chapel, was busily used well into the 1970ties. In the 80ties and 90ties it fell into disrepair. Just before the chapel's complete destruction, a local initiative, formed by different associations and the clinic's management, promoted successfully the preservation and listing of the building. The chapel is not only an example of a simple but functional building style at its time of construction with local materials, but also connects a kind of entrance gate and transition area the calm of the natural graveyard with the core area of the behind situated Alva – Sculpture Park and its diverse elements.
