Wolftal (Wolf's valley) lives up to its name

Wolfs live again in the Wolftal. Mid-April 201 wolf siblings, two males and one vixen moved into the Alternative Wolf and Bear Park in Bad Rippoldsau-Schapbach.

Adi, Ado and Anita are the names of the three wolfs. Until now they lived at the pheasantry in Wiesbaden, where they were born. In the seven months since the opening of the Wolf and Bear Park efforts to provide company for the bears Jurka, Ben, Poldi and Schapi failed again and again.

Through the pheasantry in Wiesbaden a new possibility opened up to resettle master isengrim once again in the Wolftal. When the alpha animal in the group died where the three young wolfs lived it came to power struggles between the remaining siblings, which actually lead to one death. Wiesbaden decided to give away some animals subject to animal protection.

The foundation for bears that manages the Alternative Wolf and Bear Park was able to help the Wiesbaden pheasantry with free capacities in the Wolftal and take the three animals on. The concept to combine the bear and wolf enclosure, restructure and enlargement has proved susccessful.

The wolfs had to be brought back into a natural social structure to relief the pack while the bears had to be rescued from bad conditions.

A special trailer was sent to Wiesbaden to get Adi, Ado and Anita. To load the animals into the transport cages they had to be anaesthetise with blow-pipe injections. The wolfs arrived at the Bear Park still dizzy from the anaesthesia. A vet had to wake them up with another injection before they could be let out from their cages into the wolfs enclosure.

The interaction between wolfs and bears brings both animal species a diverse and thrilling life. There is no plan to increase the wolf's pack.
