The traditional Witch Fire takes place annually on the 30th April. Several fires are lit on the mountains and hills in the Oberlausitz during the famous Walpurgis-Night. The fires are severely safeguarded days before the event so that nobody is able to burn them down beforehand.

Members of the Deutsch-Sorbischen Volkstheater German-Sorbs-Theatre) have staged ever since a court trial in Göda near Bautzen about the 'Stara Jeba' (old witch), embodied by a straw doll. During this trial she will be held responsible for everything bad that has happened during the past year and will be punished by burning.
