Beginning of the 17th-century the historical marketplace with the palace gate was created. The town hall was built together with further houses in 1906. As so many buildings the town hall is determined by the Weser Renaissance.

The grand residence of the princes of Schaumburg-Lippe with its beautiful park is a stimulatory decoration for the town without dominating it. The nearby palace gate leads to one of Germany's prettiest marketplaces. And the figure art by the great Adrian de Vries can be admired not only at the park - it is also behind the impressive facade of the town church at the upper end of the pretty Lange Strasse, which is surrounded by half-timbered houses. His bronze baptismal font is considered as an exquisite masterwork.
