The Theatre Duisburg near the König-Heinrich-Platz is one of the buildings which form the city centre . Its front is kept in neo-classical style and reminds one of antique temple buildings. The theatre has space for more than 1000 visitors. Its repertoire encompasses theatre, opera and ballet productions as well as concerts.

The Theatre Duisburg is the performance place of the German Opera at the Rhine, a theatre association of the cities Duisburg and Düsseldorf. It is also home to the renowned Duisburg Philharmonic. It doesn't have its own play ensemble and cooperates with other regional theatres.
