The watermill was built in 1542. Due to the mill pond's large dimensions and its constant feeding by the Bade the mill was able to work all year round. The farmers came from afar to mill their grain here as the mill, having three sets of stones could also mill buckwheat. Today only two sets of stones remain. - In the last century it came to a conflict of interests between the miller and some farmers settled Bade upstream. These farmer dammed the beck to flood their meadows at times. The work in Bademühlen was considerably restricted as enough water wasn't available anymore. After long-drawn legal actions the miller was awarded exclusive rights to dam the Bade and the farmers has to take down their weirs. In 1945 the former wooden bridge over the mill weir was blown apart by German soldiers. This action also destroyed the water wheel and the weir. Only in 1953 was the mill weir and the bridge rebuilt. In 1995 a new undershot water wheel was attached, constructed from metal. Today the mill is fully functioning again.

Since autumn 2000 the water mill has a ca 12 metres long fish climbing facility or fish steps to enable fish like salmon or sea trout to master the altitude difference of 2,3 metres and return to their spawning grounds.

Mill sightseeing is possible during the day.
