The first step towards an independent church community in Stelle was taken by a request to the King of Hanover in 1861. p until this time the church goers of Stelle had to accept the long walk to the church in Pattensen. Even when the request was initially rejected, a "chapel board of directors" could be elected in 1866, who prepared the construction of a chapel.

In April 1868 finally the construction of a three naves neo Gothic red brick church commenced, the inauguration took place in the same year. Yet Stelle continued to belong from a church community perspective to Pattensen and became an independent church community only in 1955.
The interior is modern, although the pulpit and the three windows of the choir room play an important role. They were created in 1930 and the picture content portrays Christmas, Easter and Whitsun.

Apart from an extension of the church nave the church in Stelle received in 1968 a west tower with a particular steep peak. Four bells ring in the tower named after the keywords of their inscription  “faith, love, hope and peace".
