The 'Soldier King' developed his own concepts of a well organised, with the aim of economic viability, provincial government and started to built an army.

The king used the estate as seat of government and meeting point of the legendary Tobacco Collegium.

After the death of Frederick William I in 1740, the palace became derelict. In 1991, a fundamental renovation and reconstruction started.

When the restoration work was finished, a new Palace Musem was won, where visitors are able to gain an overview, in authentic surroundings, about the artistic work in Brandenburg-Prussia in the first half of the 18th-century.
