The Kunsthaus

Here, the so-called art-house Wasser West 7 is outstanding with the collection of the 'Old Worpswerder', since it opened 1987'. One enters the house through the high massive basement on which three floors are resting. The two upper floors and the two gabled floors are bedded on richly decorated consoles. The ground floor pillars have like the corner and middle posts of the first floor curved foot struts. The bricks are structured through the red-brick pattern. The inscription at the loft hatch's lintel at the third floor shows, the written proof is there, the erection date: ANNO 1667.

The originally as living and storage build house - the hoist still to be seen at the gable - has had different uses through the centuries. It was until 1987 lovingly and comprehensive restored by its present owner the district Stade. Its new utilisation was as a gallery. The art-gallery housed until the end of 1998 the biggest and comprehensive collection of pictures from old Worpsweder artists. It now has changing exhibitations from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
