The Gymnasial church and residence

Under the Jesuit superior Carl Immendorf from Haselünne, a church for the Gymnasium was built in 1743/1746 in the style of late baroque and early rococo. The pillars and pylons in the choir, painted blue-white and pink are made of oak wood. The famous master builder Johann Conrad Schlaun (palace Brühl near Cologne, palace to Münster, hunting lodge Clemenswerth) created the two side altars. Two paintings by Caspar de Crayer, a friend and student of Rubens are hanging on the left and right in the choir.

Wood carvings by Jöllemann in the choir stalls, choir balustrade, chancel, pieta, organ balustrade, confessional, coloured ceiling stucco.
