Around 1700 built as manor chapel it is a building that integrates well into the landscape and is exemplary dedicated. Together with the surrounding 500-years old lime-trees they form an ensemble with a special charm that is transmitting an atmosphere of unity of growing and construction. This chapel becomes that way an obvious mark for cohesion of nature, religion and culture.
The former manor was abandoned in 1899. A forestry office moved into the manor. Later on the church was given over to decay. When it nearly collapsed demolition was recommended.
But it didn't come to that. In 1989/90 after the reunification the chapel was rebuilt.

It wasn't always like that:
In those days when land and people belonged to the manorial lord, the church was also owned by the lord. In the area he reigned he also had the right to appoint the priest. His subjects had to go to church, it was a duty imposed by the lord. The priest was expected to advice the servants to be subordinate to the authorities: because that was what God had ordered.
At that time the first peasant uprising were organised in the Uckermark and other parts of the state Brandenburg. Most farmers remained silent but resorted to passive resistance. 150 years had to pass before the bondage of inherited subservience ended.

Many visitors come from near and far to Alt Placht in the Uckermark to visit the 'chapel in green surroundings', to enjoy the tranquillity and spend time in devotion.

Small but nice concerts are being organised sporadically.
