The Buchholzer St. Johannis-Church

The Protestant St. Johannis church in Buchholz was inaugurated in 1967. Its basic concept design is a nave in lozenge form.

With its deep down drawn triangular roofs - based on a tent - the interior has a recognised good acoustic.

Many choirs and instrumentalist love to give concerts here. This is also the main focus of the community work of St. Johannis: the dialogue of art, church and culture. Apart from concerts of the most diverse style directions (Pop, Rock, Gospel, Jazz, and classic), lectures and theatre events in the church becoming very popular. The nave and the organ gallery have 350 seats.

The altar with pulpit (a concrete relief of the tree of life, according to the revelation 22), the four freestanding candlesticks and the bronze cross were designed by the Hannover sculptor Siegfried Zimmermann.

The archangel Michael patrols, ready for action, the cosmos, where he has to fight evil. The sculpture in the church's foyer was designed by the artist Uwe Bremer in 2001.
