Rheine

Rheine is with ca. 75.000 citizens the biggest town in the community and of the northern Münsterland.
The town, which was once tightly connected with the textile industry, presents itself as economic and cultural diverse today.
The city centre is characterised by the pedestrian zone. A lot of effort was put into its dapper design. Numerous retail stores and the farmer's market, taking place on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays are ideal for a stroll. the river Ems runs right through the middle of the town. A walk along the pretty bank promenades is very relaxing.

Cultural life is very important in Rheine: the town hall, the community centre, the natural zoo, Bentlage monastery with the saltworks and the many old churches like the St. Antonius-Basilica offer programmes, which leaves nothing to be desired: concerts, opera, ballet, play, comedy, matinees, cabaret, readings, Jazz and more.
