For a long time, the faithful in Ludwigsfelde, had to visit the churches in neighbouring villages.
That changed with the church St. Michael, which was inaugurated in 1955.
The building style of the church was similar to that of Bethlehem's stable.

Until 1955, the faithful of the two spinning colonies Damsdorf and Ludwigsfelde, went to Löwenbruch, Genshagen and Siethen, to pursue the church service there.

After long negotiations, the faithful community started with the cornerstone ceremony in 1953.

An altarpiece was commissioned and realised by Gerhard Olbrich. 3 elements are the contents of the piece: in the middle, the crucifixion of Christ is being depicted, on the left the temptation and on the right, archangel Micheal's fight with the dragon.

The church was named after that archangel, based on the clerical fight against an 'unchurched' town.

On the 8th of May 1955: the church was officially consecrated by the General Superintendent Braun and thus available to the faithful community.
