The world-famous Hall of Peace in Münster's town hall is the historical place of the Peace of Westphalia between 1643 to 1648. The town hall with its magnificent gable, is also one of the most important architectural monuments and one of the most beautiful secular buildings of the Gothic period.
The hall originates from around 1320, as a roofed place for citizenry meetings. Unique is the installation of the sculptures in the town hall gable, were widespread at European cathedrals and churches from the end of the 12th-century through to the 16th-century, as for example the coronation of Mary to the
Queen of Heaven.
