Princess Emma to Waldeck and Pyrmont, Holland's future queen was born in the year 1858 at the residence palace in Bad Arolsen. She lived here until her marriage to the Dutch king Willem III. This marriage and the birth of their daughter Wilhelmina secured the continuance of the house Oranien one of Europe's oldest and well-known dynasties of princes. 

Queen Emma continued the relationship with Germany especially with her birthplace and visited the residence palace in Bad Arolsen often. 

The Prince family to Waldeck and Pyrmont still lives today at the residence palace. A big part of the Baroque palace is open to the public and thus travel destination not only for Dutch guests.  

The Oranier-Route leads through Dutch and German cities that are connected to the house Oranien-Nassau. You will experience an impressive discovery trip that offers apart from cultural highlights with several castles and palaces also beautiful landscapes.
