The brick-built moated castle Niederzier is situated in the same-named community Niederzier in the district Düren. French troops destroyed the castle around 1674. Only in 1698 started the rebuilding of the manor and the outer bailey was newly constructed in 1765. Niederzier Castle was owned by the family von Hochsteden for 400 years. In 1921 the community Niederzier purchased the castle and since then it is the community administration centre.
