Nideggen Castle

Nideggen Castle was built by von Wilhelm II around 1170. In the 18th-century the gatehouse was constructed, which was destroyed in the 2nd World War. At the end of 1979 it was rebuilt. The forecourt has a considerable length of 110m and a width of 55m.

In the Middle Ages winemaking was important in Nideggen. Some grapevines can still be found in the castle garden today. Nideggen Castle has the Rhineland's only castle museum. It is situated in the donjon. The castle's knight hall can be hired for celebrations and has space for up to 120 persons.
