30km of Berlin is the Nature Reserve Dahme-Heideseen situated. It was opened in 1998. Name giver for the reserve is the  Dahme as well as several lakes. They are imbedded in extensive woods, which are described in the nature reserve area as heathers.  Tranquil or sportive active one can experience the nature reserve in any season, whether while hiking, riding or on water. The Dahme-lakes are one of Berlin's prettiest south-east water-sports areas and swimmers can enjoy themselves as well.

Not only countryside beauty but also idyllic village greens, pretty churches and historical estates and maoor houses wait to be discovered.

The settlement history goes back to the Stone Age. Fishing has a long tradition because first settlements were always situated at the water. Regional fish dishes as well as game from local forests are on offer in many restuarants. The walker, related to the May beetle, also called dune beetle was selected as heraldic animal of the Nature Reserve Dahme-Heideseen.
