Nebraska-House

At the Karl-May-Platz in Bad Segeberg next to the open-air theatre is the Native Indian Village situated.
Photo taken in autumn 2001.

Blockhouses, tepees, a view into the everyday life of native Indians, marshall office with prison, a flat of a pioneer family and the accommodation of cowboys take the visitors back to the pioneering times in the United States of America around 1888.
Indian interested visitors will be looked after well. A diverse offer of food is on show.

As we can see on the picture above, the tepees are not taken down even in winter months. The photo was taken in winter 2000.

In the blockhouses of the Indian Village exhibitions like 'Die Welt der Indianer' and '50 Jahre Karl-May-Spiele' are being shown. 'The world of the Indian' depicts the culture of North American Indians impressively. On show are over 300 exhibits.
To be seen are also the Karl-May-Posters and many pictures of the plays from the last 50 years. Items from the funds, pictures and explanations make you realise quickly why the Karl-May-Plays have been so attractive to visitors since 1952.
Interested visitors will find at the relevant library in the Nebraska room, pictures and works by young artists and craftsmen from the US state of Nebraska.
Collectors will find lots of memorabilia and souvenirs.

Hours before the start of the Karl-May-Festival the Indian-Village and the courtyard are filled with visitors who like to pass the time meaningful.

In the background of the left photo we can see the Kalkberg.

For visitors who are not particularly interested in the history of Indians it is still worth a trip: The nearby Kalkberg can not only be climbed via steep paths and steps - the mountain conqueror will be awarded with a wonderful view over Bad Segeberg and surrounding area - now there are also several options under the mountain (literally), like a guided tour through the enormous cave labyrinth, watching bats and rare vegetation, unique herbs and other thrilling experiences.

Further down, at the foot of the mountain is the lovely old town of Bad Segeberg. At this terrific 'strolling mile' with the most diverse shops and restaurants every visitor gets his money's worth.
