Muehlenhof - Open Air Museum in Muenster

Discover the Münster country, as it once was. The Mühlenhof open-air museum of Münster was founded in 1959/60 and opened in 1961, with the rebuilding of the post windmill from the Emsland. The idea of creating such an open-air museum of farming and craft culture, had the then director of transport Theo Breider (1903-1993).

The post windmill in the country school house, in the mill house and the Gräftenhof, the agricultural and artisan world bring back the life of bygone times. The search for traces in the Mühlenhof, takes you through 26 historical buildings, all historically carefully and lovingly furnished. Among other things, in weavers' small cottages, where 'female handicrafts' and special exhibitions are to be seen, or in the peasant's house, where the general store and the inn are located.
