Lichtenhaeger Boulder Garden

Only a few hundred metres after Rostock, in the direction of Elmenhorst / Lichtenhagen is a stone garden of exceptional dimension: The Lichtenhäger Boulder Garden.

The stone collection stretches on a total surface of about 1,5 hectares in 5 areas of Lichtenhagen's village centre.

It shows 40 stone pictures, consisting of 600 boulders, stone chains made of 1 000 headers, laid as connections between the boulders and 400 further boulders, which are situated at individual locations as stone groups or stone chains.

All stones of the boulder garden stem from community area. 75 of the boulders came from the golf course Elmenhorst/Diedrichshagen.

Name, age, origin and finding places of the stones are well explained.

Suitable to the respective location, the stone pictures look like in the figuration of selected zodiac signs.

The Boulder Garden contains 38 pictures of the northern and southern starry sky. It connects historical monuments and village protection, copse and habitat protection and conveys mineralogy, astronomy and botanic knowledge.
