Krefeld Theatre

Theatre enthusiasm has a long tradition in Krefeld. Already in the 18th-century silk town citizens were attracted to the stage, which mean the world. This didn't change after the 2nd World War and reconstruction but there was a deep cut in the year 1950, which would mark the start of a downright success story: On the 19. April 1950 the high-ranking representative of the towns Krefeld and Mönchengladbach signed a theatre contract and sealed the foundation of a community theatre - the first in Germany. With the name 'Vereinigte Städtische Bühnen Krefeld und Mönchengladbach' it became a Dreispartentheater, which attracts attention beyond the towns and the region borders.
