Kehdinger Coastal Shipping Museum

Short introduction:
In a listed granary building directly behind the dike in close proximity to the also listed harbour is the voluntary managed museum located. It was founded in
1994. it shows photos, models and original items from the great time of Kehdinger coastal shipping, which was once one of the most important branches of industry in the region and the centre of German coastal shipping. Still in the beginning of the 60tis over 260 ships were managed and still today a large part of the modern coastal shipping fleet is being managed from here but the old harbour is not in use anymore.
The trades connected to shipping are also depicted here.
In addition changing special exhibitions are being shown as well as an annual art exhibition with maritime themes.
The museum as voluntary managed museum was awarded with the 1. place in a competition by the rural district Stade in 1998.

Opening times:
From Easter to mid-November
Saturdays and Sundays as well as public holidays:
10am - 12noon
and
1pm - 6pm

From 1st of July till 30th of September daily apart from Monday!

Guided tours for groups can be arranged
