Inland harbour Duisburg - change of structure in an attractive way

More so than in other places the redesign of the Duisburger inland harbour was a success as new spheres of life were created. Modern offices created several thousands of new jobs. Hundreds new apartments were built.

The museum Küppersmühle, the new Jewish community centre, the Marina Duisburg, swimming beer gardens and diverse gastronomy represent the attractive possibilities of culture and recreational activities. These offers are attractive to the whole city of Duisburg and far beyond. To give these offerings a distinctive form and an outstanding quality as in regards to urban development the aesthetic yardstick was set high.

At the redesigning and conversion of the old warehouses and planning new landmarks like the Eurogate or the Five Boats change was dared and with the help of international star architects like Pierre de Meuron, Lord Norman Foster, Nicholas Grimshaw or Meinhard von Gerkan mastered.
