House Peters in Tetenbuell

image author: Haus Peters

The House Peters houses the a former colonial goods store, from the year 1820. It is a museum of a special kind with the historic shop, which still serves as a salesroom, with gallery and exhibitions. Particular attention must be given to the 'Horst Janssen Room' in the gable parlour with the 'Eiderland-Map' and the 'Janssen-Farm' as well as the cottage garden with it, for the region typical perennials and summer flowers. In the other rooms of the house, special exhibitions about contemporary art and cultural history take place.

The historic general store in Tetenbüll with its beautifully restored interior, is probably the oldest rural store in its original place, in Schleswig-Holstein. The house of the Peters' family, built around 1760 and from circa 1850 to 1955, residential tract of a former farmhouse, is an important culture-historical testimony of the 18th and 19th-century. Apart from the original Biedermeier shop interior, the kitchen and the parlour have mostly the Gründerzeit furniture of the former owner. Visitors have here the rare opportunity, to experience living, working in the environment of village and landscape, the catchment area of the former countryside customers.
